North Light House is a contemporary residence in Bangalore imagined as a private sanctuary: a home that borrows the calm of a luxury hotel or wellness retreat, yet stays rooted in everyday family life. The design unfolds as a sequence of spatial experiences, beginning at the entry and moving upward through the house, with soft natural light, muted textures, and gentle curves shaping a sense of comfort and pause.
The first floor forms the heart of the home: an open-plan living, dining, kitchen, and puja space arranged around a central skylit courtyard. A dramatic granite floor anchors this inner core, set against lighter marble surfaces that extend through the house. A north-facing double-height window draws in soft filtered daylight, while the open island kitchen becomes a natural place for breakfasts, conversations, and family time.

A sculptural internal staircase rises through the residence, washed with daylight from side windows and a skylight above, combining safety, movement, and architectural presence. On the upper floor, private bedrooms open to light, air, and greenery, with a custom metal screen protecting the primary bedroom while preserving ventilation and privacy. Behind its dark, solid facade, the house reveals itself as unexpectedly open and inward-looking, an escape from the city.
